Happy October Weasel Report readers! It’s amazing to think that it’s already that time of the year, but, the weather is getting chillier and the holidays are coming up quickly! Speaking of holidays, October is famous for a certain holiday which happens to be at the very end of the month. As you can plain well see, the Weasel Report has been decorated in celebration of the occasion!

Halloween actually has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain, and the Christian holy day of All Saints’ Day. The word “Halloween” is actually the shortened version of “All Hallows’ Eve“. But of course, in modern day, most people only know about candy and horror when it comes to October the 31st. We here at the Weasel Report like one of the other reasons: it gives us a reason to dress up.

This is exactly why the Weasel Report is starting the 1st Annual Weasel Report Costume Contest today! In easy terms, it’s just as it sounds: the best costume wins. Now of course, there’s a little bit more to the rules than just that, so read below for the full contest details, and be sure to get your submission in before the deadline to be entered! And, yes, there is a prize! See you later this month!

1st Annual Weasel Report Costume Contest Official Rules

• No purchase necessary, void where prohibited.
• The contest is open to residents of the United States of America only.
• Contest submissions begin on October 1, 2009 and end on October 21, 2009 at 11:59:59 PM CST/CDT.
• You must be registered with the Weasel Report in order to enter.
• Only one submission is allowed per person.

• By submitting a photograph, you are giving the Weasel Report permission to repost it on our website in order to help determine the winner during the last week of October, as well as if you are the winner your photo will be posted.

• The winner will be chosen with a combination of two methods: a user vote and an editor/judge vote.
• Voting will be open from October 22, 2009 at 12:00:00 AM CST/CDT and end on October 29, 2009 at 11:59:59 PM CST/CDT.
• Costumes will be posted on the Weasel Report and users will vote for their favorite one; this counts as 50% of the final score.
• Editors/Judges from the Weasel Report will also vote for their favorite one; this counts as the other 50% of the final score.
• The costume with the highest score based on the combination of votes will be declared the winner.
• The winner will be announced on October 31, 2009.

How to Enter the 1st Annual Weasel Report Costume Contest

• Send an e-mail to halloween [at] weaselreport.com with the Subject “Costume Contest Entry” and include:

1. Your full name.
2. Your Weasel Report username.
3. One picture of yourself in your costume (the picture must be of yourself, in your costume, and you must have a sign of some kind in the picture with the words “Weasel Report” in it to prove that it is you; if you fail any of these, your entry will be thrown away).

Last week, we began our biggest giveaway event yet, one that spanned twelve video games and four pieces of computer hardware. Over a week later, we’ve finally come to a close, and today, we drew for the winners of each prize.

Before I begin listing the winners, I’d like to thank you all who entered. We had a great turnout, and only three games didn’t get drawn for due to the lack of people entering for them. We’ll give them away at a later date for some other reason, so if you think you have a friend who might want it, send them our way in the future when we get to that point!

I know I know, you really want to know if you’ve won something. That’s great! I would too! Especially if I was the winner. Too bad though, I can’t win my own prizes, although I could have just kept some of this stuff and not given it to you all. I’m just such a nice guy though, that I couldn’t do that.

On a serious note though, for those of you wondering, all prizes provided for this giveaway were paid for by the Weasel Report and the Weasel Network.
